Science Social: Connect with Brisbane's science communicators over brunch!
Science Social is an independent grass roots initiative based in Brisbane/Meanjin and running since 2023.
A regular free event that is equal parts workshop, networking and brunch.
The primary goal is to create a casual community hub for anyone working, studying or interested in science to make new connections, collaborate and exercise their communication skills.
Events are held at a Brisbane cafe and typically involve:
Quick-fire ice-breakers
Solo and team games
Guided discussions
General networking
Guest-run segments from regular participants
Opportunity for attendees to share upcoming events and projects
…all to encourage attendees to communicate science in creative ways.
- Welcomes and assists people who have challenges with learning, communication, understanding and behaviour. (includes people with autism, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, acquired brain injury (ABI), dyslexia and dementia)
- Caters for people who use a wheelchair.
