Bubble, boil, BANG!

19 - 22 AUGUST 2026

Queensland Museum Kurilpa

Freeze a zooper dooper in seconds. See fire held in bare hands. Watch a tornado of flames twist into the sky. (Yes, really.)

Bubble, Boil, BANG! is an explosive live science show where curious young minds get a front-row seat to the wildest corner of chemistry and physics. They're talking liquid nitrogen at -196°C, rainbow-coloured flames and a grand finale that'll make the whole room gasp. Every demo is packed with surprises — and every surprise comes with a "but WHY does that happen?!" moment built in.

Kids will explore the states of matter, discover why gases love to cause chaos and find out exactly what happens when things go boom! Volunteers get hands-on, no question is too out-there, and absolutely nothing goes according to boring.

Sensory Advice
This show contains sudden loud noises, bangs, bright flames, flashing visual effects, audience participation, and large clouds of liquid nitrogen vapour. Some demonstrations may be startling. Visitors who are sensitive to loud sounds or unexpected effects may wish to identify themselves to staff or use hearing protection.
