Botanical Meditation: Opening Event

16 MAY 2026

Creative Room Art Space

Creative Room Art Space invites you to the opening of Botanical Meditation, a solo exhibition by Oxana Arefin.

A psychologist and visual artist, Oxana Arefin creates layered, contemplative paintings that move between inner landscape and observed nature. After moving to Queensland, she became captivated by local flora, including eucalyptus leaves, jacaranda blossoms, native grasses and flowers, which now act as daily companions and quiet guides.

In Botanical Meditation, botanical forms emerge from translucent blue grounds that suggest breath, stillness and a meditative state. Rather than traditional botanical illustration, these works function as visual meditations, with slow, textured surfaces that invite viewers to pause, feel and listen.

The series is inspired by the idea of forest bathing, treating painting as an immersion in nature through presence and touch rather than distant observation.

An afternoon of art and conversation with the artist as Creative Room Art Space continues its 2026 exhibition program in West End.

Drinks and light refreshments will be served.
