Bojagi: Tea and Stitch with Martina Latimer at Creative Room Art Space

1 JUNE - 14 DECEMBER 2026

Creative Room Art Space

Bojagi: Tea and Stitch is a weekly textile workshop at Creative Room Art Space in West End, Brisbane, guided by multidisciplinary artist Martina Latimer.

Bojagi is a traditional Korean practice of joining cloth fragments through careful hand-sewing. Its distinctive seam method finishes cleanly on both sides, so the textile can be read from the front or the back with equal clarity. There is no backing fabric, no hidden structure. The seam becomes the design itself, a line of drawing and rhythm running across the surface.

Each session guides participants through the foundational bojagi technique, working patiently with irregular cloth fragments to assemble them into a unified whole. The process encourages attentiveness, improvisation, and mindful making. Bojagi is a practice of reuse and quiet beauty, rooted in balance and transparency.

Martina Latimer is a Brisbane-based multidisciplinary artist with ten years of experience in textile teaching and pattern design. Now working predominantly in oil painting and printmaking, she brings genuine technical knowledge and a deep love of material to every session.

No prior experience is required. Sessions include a tea break and places are limited.
