Kyara Hourigan is a Bundjalung Mununjali, Kamilaroi and Mandandanji woman whose weaving practice is deeply connected to culture, family and Country. Taught by her Bundjalung Mununjali mother, she works with raffia and traditional lomandra grass to create handcrafted pieces that honour cultural knowledge and storytelling.
Her work blends traditional weaving techniques with contemporary design, creating meaningful pieces that reflect identity, connection and resilience. Through her practice, Kyara shares and celebrates Aboriginal culture while continuing the traditions passed down through generations.
